Is Canva Creators worth it for template designers?
Canva Creators pays template designers royalties that grow with how often customers use their templates, and Canva says it's onboarding only a small number of people.
Canva Creators makes sense if
You want your templates in front of Canva's existing users
Choose another platform if
You need royalty terms that stay fixed
You can't risk losing royalties you've already earned
You want royalties that refunds can't reduce
You don't want your designs used to train AI
Canva Creators commission rates
Canva publishes no per-use rate or royalty percentage. Template royalties come from a royalty pool, shared out by how often your templates are used: each download, print or presentation counts, and Canva pays for both Free and Pro use. The pool grows with Canva's subscription revenue and is worked out monthly, and Canva calls the monthly figures confidential.

How much you can make on Canva Creators
Canva gives no average or typical Creator payout, and no independent measurement of one is published. Canva's Creators page says your designs keep earning "even when you're asleep." That income depends on Canva accepting you, on the templates you design and publish, and on how often customers use them.
Canva Creators and Canva content license limits
Canva's Content License Agreement bars re-selling or distributing Canva content as it is, Free or Pro. Pro Content and Pro templates are licensed for a single Canva design and can't be distributed as a standalone item. Free Content has fewer limits: the agreement lets you use it in templates you sell, including design templates made for resale. If you also sell template links outside the program, see Canva templates.
How to earn more on Canva Creators
Canva's Templates page says Creators can use per-template usage and export dashboards to decide what to create next. It also points to regular design briefs, competitions and new inspiration.
Can Canva Creators close your account?
Canva's Contributor Agreement lets it suspend or terminate a Creator, or remove content, at any time. It names breaking the agreement and repeatedly submitting content that misses its guidelines. Canva can also end the agreement without cause on at least 30 days' notice.
Listed grounds include duplicates, content stuffing, public domain or CC0 content, third-party rights violations and AI-generated content. Downloading your own contributed Stock Media, or soliciting others to, is a ground too, as are reputation harm and harassment.
Short of termination, Canva may pause an account, set submission limits or place a temporary review hold. It can re-review content at any time using automated tools including AI. The agreement describes no formal appeal process. It says only that you may request a review by contacting support if you think automated flagging was a mistake. Canva says Creators have a dedicated Creators Support Team for technical issues. For general steps, see how to appeal a gig app deactivation.
Canva may change the agreement, royalties page and guidelines, and gives advance notice only for changes it judges materially adverse to most contributors.
Is Canva Creators legit?
Canva runs the program under its Contributor Agreement. The current version bars selling, transferring or sharing your Creator account without Canva's written approval, and holds Creators to its Contributor Quality and Participation Standards. The lawsuit in the record is about music licensing, not Creators, and it records allegations from both sides, not a finding.

Taxes on Canva Creators income
Canva's Contributor Agreement says it withholds a percentage of your royalties and pays it to the tax authorities. The rate depends on the country you're registered in and whether a tax treaty applies. Canva can also hold back royalty payments if you don't complete or update its required tax forms. For what you owe on the rest, see taxes on side income.
