What Payhip costs sellers
Payhip's plans all include the same features, unlimited products and unlimited revenue; they differ only in the share Payhip takes from each sale. A paid plan saves money only once your monthly sales are high enough for the lower fee to outweigh the plan price.
Payhip fees
- Payhip keeps
Free plan: 5%, $0/month
Payhip's default plan charges no monthly fee, only this transaction fee.
Plus plan: 2%, $29/month
Payhip's transaction fee drops to 2% on this plan.
Pro plan: 0%, $99/month
No Payhip transaction fee on this plan.
Stripe and PayPal fees apply on top
Processor fees are charged in addition to Payhip's fee on every plan.
U.S. sales tax handling costs nothing
Payhip says it charges nothing for managing U.S. sales tax.
- Cost to apply
Connecting a payment gateway comes after the account is created.
How and when Payhip pays you
Payhip's help center says Payhip doesn't process payments or transfer money directly to bank accounts, so a store needs at least one connected Stripe or PayPal account before it can sell. Payhip's terms say buyers pay you directly through PayPal, Stripe or another gateway Payhip supports. There is no Payhip balance to cash out: when you can spend a sale depends on the processor you connect and the schedule you set there.
How Payhip pays
Service completed
- How you're paid
Your own Stripe or PayPal account
Buyers pay you through your connected account. Payhip sends nothing to your bank.
- Minimum payout
No Payhip minimum or withdrawal fee stated
Payhip's pricing page lists no payout minimum or withdrawal fee.
How to get approved on Payhip
The wait on a new store comes from the processor: Payhip says your first Stripe payment stays pending for a few days while Stripe approves you, with the length depending on your location, and your first PayPal payment goes through an automatic approval that may delay your payout. Payhip adds that one Stripe account can connect to several Payhip stores, but Stripe requires separate accounts for businesses that operate independently or are separate legal entities.
Payhip requirements
- Where you can work
U.S. sellers can connect Stripe or PayPal
Both payment processors are supported in the United States.
- Also required
Active Stripe or PayPal account
Payhip's terms require one and compliance with that processor's own terms.
- ID and documents
Stripe activation form and two-step authentication
Stripe collects verification details when you create or connect an account.
What you sell can cost you the account. Payhip's list of products it doesn't allow includes get-rich-quick schemes, gambling, debt and loan content, cannabis, vendor or lead lists and unlicensed medical advice, and Payhip says other content can be barred too. Selling prohibited content risks having your Payhip account permanently deleted without prior notice, and Payhip's terms let it remove files it suspects infringe intellectual property, also without notice.
Payhip questions
Companies House, the UK government company registry, lists PAYHIP LTD as an active private limited company incorporated on Feb 4, 2013. It was registered as Ruby Apps Limited until Jun 10, 2013.
Payhip says that from Jul 1, 2026 it acts as marketplace facilitator, responsible for collecting and paying U.S. sales tax instead of the seller. It says sellers should set a product tax category, because states differ on taxing digital products, and choose whether tax is added on top of the price or included in it. Sellers with a physical presence in a state where tax is collected may still need to file zero-dollar returns, and Payhip suggests checking with a tax professional.
