What Gumroad costs sellers
Every Gumroad fee comes out of a sale, so what you pay depends on where the buyer found you. A sale from a link you share yourself costs far less than one that comes through Gumroad's Discover marketplace, although the Discover rate already covers card and PayPal processing. When you refund a sale, Gumroad's fee page says it returns its own fee on the refunded amount but keeps the processing part, because payment processors don't give that back.

How and when Gumroad pays you
Not every schedule is open to everyone. Gumroad's help page says daily payouts need a US bank account and at least 4 earlier payouts, and instant payouts need a Stripe account that has processed with Gumroad for at least 60 days. Gumroad pays only by bank deposit or PayPal, never by Payoneer, Wise, check or wire. Its terms (section 11.4) say that changing your payout country, or switching method in a way that needs a new connected account, forfeits unpaid money held in a country-specific account.
How Gumroad pays

How to get approved on Gumroad
Gumroad reviews each account before paying out. Its help page says the review checks that you follow Gumroad's and its payment processors' terms and that you aren't building up chargebacks or suspicious purchases, and that it can take 1-3 weeks. It warns that buying your own product to speed things up can get you suspended or permanently banned; use the test purchase feature instead. Stripe asks for ID after enough time and sales, and US sellers need a Social Security number whose name and date of birth match their payment settings exactly. Gumroad's pricing page lists digital products, e-books, courses, tutorials and memberships as what you can sell, and its prohibited list, which covers crypto and NFTs, multi-level marketing, weapons, alcohol and credit repair, can change without notice.
Gumroad questions
Gumroad's terms of service name Gumroad, Inc. as the operator of the website and apps, with a notice address in San Francisco, California. The terms also make Gumroad the merchant of record for the resale of sellers' products.
Gumroad says it has handled sales tax collection and remittance since January 2025, and its terms say sellers may not invoice buyers. Sellers who already file sales tax returns report Gumroad sales as sales for resale, which Gumroad says are not taxable. For income tax, Gumroad's help page says Stripe sends US sellers a 1099-K once they pass its thresholds, and sales through your own connected Stripe or PayPal account aren't on it.
