Is Impact worth it for affiliate partners, creators and publishers?

Impact pays you through the brands you apply to. Each brand approves you separately, and each brand's contract sets how long you wait.

How much Impact takes from your pay

Brands pay your commissions, and Impact tracks them and processes the payout. Impact says sign-up is free. Beyond that, it charges a monthly maintenance fee if it can't pay you, for example when tax or payment info is missing. Impact says the fee continues until you provide valid tax or payment info or your balance reaches zero. A processing fee applies to PayPal payouts but not to domestic bank transfers. The help page lists a different monthly amount for partners invoiced through an impact.com entity, so check which model your account uses.

How and when Impact pays you

Your wait has three stages: the brand's locking period, Impact's invoicing period, then the payout run. A tracked sale isn't final. The brand can reverse it during locking, for example for a return or cancellation. After that you choose a threshold payout or a fixed day of the month, and a bank account or PayPal. Impact says phone number verification (two-factor authentication) is a required step to get paid.

Impact requirements and how long approval takes

There are two gates. Impact's own marketplace approval comes first, and you can't apply to any brand without it. Impact's application status page says it checks identity and channel ownership and will decide within 72 hours. It also says it declines applications for limited reach or activity until your reach grows. If you are declined, you can contact support or have a Partner Development Manager appeal.

Then each brand approves partners individually, per program. Impact emails you the decision. Brands publish no turnaround time, but the marketplace shows each brand's recent response and acceptance rates. Impact's privacy policy, last updated in 2021, says only adults may access its services and gives no age number. Impact's homepage offers sign-up to creators and affiliate publishers without stating a U.S. restriction.

Figures Impact publishes

Other figures

  • $45.9m

    Example creator GMV

  • 8.7x

    Top example creator ROAS

  • 0.8x

    Lowest example creator ROAS

These figures are brand-side sales and return on ad spend for hand-picked creators. They are Impact's own examples, not what partners take home. Impact doesn't publish typical, average or median partner earnings, and no independent sample measures them. Inside your account, the marketplace shows each brand's earnings per click, the average earned by that brand's current partners. It is per-brand data, not a monthly income figure. Your income depends on the audience you bring. See affiliate marketing.

Can Impact deactivate your account?

Impact may remove you from the marketplace for violations of its Master Program Agreement. It says access can be revoked for suspicious activity such as fraud. Removal doesn't automatically end a brand's contract with you. Brands decide that themselves. They can terminate contracts, reject applications and block you from re-applying to one program or all of theirs. Impact's help page says brands can change contract terms, including payouts, with no notice if the notice period is 0 days.

Payouts can also stall without any removal. Changing bank details triggers a payment hold. A tax-form name that doesn't match the bank beneficiary blocks payment until corrected. Impact may ask for a physical photo ID and selfie, and digital IDs on a phone aren't accepted. If a brand is under-funded, the payout is marked Overdue and Impact tells you to contact the brand. It doesn't say it covers the shortfall. Once you meet every requirement, you are eligible in the next payment cycle if funds are available. Support runs through help menu tickets and chat.

Is Impact legit?

Impact's Terms of Use, dated 2018, name Impact Tech, Inc. as the owner of impact.com. They choose California law, with Los Angeles courts for injunctive relief, and include an arbitration section. Impact Tech was formerly Impact Radius, Inc., per its 2021 privacy policy. Impact says it was founded in Santa Barbara in 2008. Its funding and acquisitions are listed below as Impact announced them.

Scams that use Impact's name

Impact says scammers impersonate impact.com or other affiliate marketing companies to offer part-time 'jobs'. The FTC gives the same general warning: honest employers never ask you to pay for a job. For more patterns, see how to spot side-hustle scams.

Taxes on Impact income

Impact doesn't withhold tax from partner earnings, so setting money aside is up to you. Partners based in the U.S. or working with U.S. brands must submit a tax form to be paid. Impact's tax documents page ties the W-9 to the $2,000 IRS reporting threshold and says withdrawals may be restricted until it is submitted. Its payment requirements page asks for the W-9 before payment.

Impact vs other affiliate networks

AdExchanger reported on April 28, 2026 that Rakuten is leaving the affiliate software side, with its merchants and publishers moving to Impact. PPC Land describes an alliance, says Rakuten Advertising's existing infrastructure stays operative, and says the announcement didn't specify migration paths for existing accounts. Compare Impact with Awin, PartnerStack and Amazon Associates.

When you get paid is when each platform pays out. Bank transfers can add a few days, depending on your bank and payout method.

† Reported by a third party; the platform doesn't publish it.
