Is GoShare worth it for drivers?
GoShare sends moving and delivery jobs to drivers who own a pickup, cargo van, box truck or car. It keeps a percentage of each job that it doesn't publish, and joining costs a non-refundable administrative fee.
GoShare makes sense if
You want to keep every tip
You want pay when a customer cancels late
Choose another platform if
You want a fee rate that can't change
You expect drive time to be paid
You can't absorb a damage claim
You want a defined way to contest a deactivation
How much GoShare takes from your pay
GoShare's FAQ says its percentage pays for marketing to customers, insurance, customer service and billing. The app shows what a project pays you before you accept it. When a customer asks for extra equipment, such as a tool kit for assembly, you bill the customer an added fee for bringing it.

- Cost to apply

How and when GoShare pays you
GoShare invoices the customer for you and pays your share by direct deposit each week, though its driver page and FAQ give slightly different waits. For how payout methods, timing and fees compare across apps, see how side-hustle payouts work.

How to become a GoShare driver
You apply with GoShare's online form, which GoShare says takes under 5 minutes. After a quick screening and an orientation video comes the background check, then you upload your vehicle documents and bank details before activation. GoShare's FAQ says background checks can run longer if you have lived in California or Massachusetts, and that California can require extra paperwork such as an EIN or business license.

Figures GoShare publishes
These are GoShare's own "average earnings up to" figures, a label that doesn't say whether they are typical or a ceiling. GoShare's driver page doesn't say whether they come before fuel and other costs or include tips. GoShare's FAQ says it makes no guarantee of earnings, that the amount of work varies by location, vehicle type, availability and season, and that most drivers use GoShare part time alongside their own delivery or moving business. To turn a rate into what you keep per hour, see how to calculate your real hourly rate.
GoShare direct clients and marketing your own business
GoShare's cargo van page says that when your schedule isn't full, you end up spending unpaid time marketing your services to local businesses. GoShare's own answer is the driver promo code in its app: its pro tips say customers you give the code to get a discount on their first order, and you get first notice of any project booked with it, so you can accept it before other drivers. Those jobs are still booked and paid through GoShare, and its terms rule out payment protection on any project where you accepted payment off the platform.
GoShare cargo insurance coverage
GoShare's FAQ calls its cargo insurance supplemental and doesn't publish coverage limits or exclusions. You must carry the automotive, liability, health and other insurance that state and federal law require. GoShare's terms make you solely responsible for liability from operating your vehicle and for reporting any accident under your own policy. For how your policy and an app's cover fit together, see delivery driver insurance.
How to earn more on GoShare
GoShare's pro tips for drivers say following its professionalism guidelines, such as wearing a GoShare shirt or hat, arriving on time and thanking customers, earns 5-star reviews. They also say keeping your vehicle maintained keeps you on the road longer and earning more, and GoShare pays a referral bonus when a driver you refer completes a first project. These are GoShare's recommendations, and GoShare publishes no data on what they add to earnings.
Can GoShare deactivate your account?
Yes. GoShare's terms let it deactivate you for violating the agreement, including its Delivery Pro Dealbreakers or its Anti-Sexual Harassment and Anti-Discrimination Policy. Cancellations are the other risk. The terms, last revised May 27, 2025, allow suspension, permanent deactivation and fines of up to $30 per cancellation and $50 per no-show. The cancellation policy charges nothing if you cancel more than 48 hours ahead, and GoShare can take fees from your card on file or from future earnings. Frequent cancellations lower your notification priority and can lead to suspension.
If your account is closed, see how to appeal a gig app deactivation for how other apps handle it.
Is GoShare legit?
San Francisco's City Attorney describes GoShare as California-based, founded in 2015, with drivers in 35 states. A filed complaint is an allegation, not a finding. In April 2025 the City alleged GoShare treats drivers as independent contractors when they are employees under California law. It also alleged that charging $49 for background checks and considering conviction history before a conditional offer violate Fair Chance laws, and that $20 to $50 penalties for cancellations and no-shows are unlawful. The City asks the court to stop the practices and award civil penalties, fees and restitution.

Taxes on GoShare income
GoShare's FAQ says it issues a 1099-K once you earn more than $600 from GoShare projects in a year. The IRS's federal threshold is higher, payments over $20,000 in more than 200 transactions, and the income is taxable either way. Its terms make you solely responsible for tax withholding and payment on what GoShare pays you. For what side income owes in income tax and self-employment tax, and when to pay, see taxes on side income.
