Is Vinted worth it for clothing sellers?
Vinted is a secondhand fashion marketplace with a U.S. site, and it charges sellers no selling fee. What you keep depends on the shipping route you pick and how soon you need the money.
Vinted makes sense if
You want to sell without a selling fee
You don't want to cover postage
Choose another platform if
You sell as a business or for profit
You need cash within a few days of a sale
You can't risk a block while money is pending
Vinted seller fees
Vinted's help pages put the costs on the buyer: the total at checkout includes the Vinted fee and shipping. Vinted renamed its Buyer Protection fee to the Vinted fee and says the change is not a new or additional fee. Shipping only comes out of your side if you choose custom shipping.
Vinted fees
- Vinted keeps
Vinted charges sellers nothing on a sale; buyers pay its fee instead.
Optional bump: Fee varies by price and length
Bumping a listing is an extra paid service for visibility.
- Customers pay on top
Buyer's Vinted fee: Usually 5% + $0.70
Buyers pay this at checkout on top of the item price.
Shipping: Buyer pays
The buyer's total at checkout includes the shipping label cost.
Custom shipping: You pay upfront
Custom shipping skips the prepaid Vinted label.

How and when Vinted pays you
A buyer's payment sits in your pending balance until the order is completed, then moves to your available balance. From there you can withdraw to a U.S. bank account or let it pay for your next Vinted purchase. Vinted doesn't publish a withdrawal fee. It also doesn't publish a way to get money faster than a standard bank withdrawal.

How to start selling on Vinted
You sign up on Vinted's U.S. site or app, then activate a Vinted Wallet before your first sale ships. Vinted says its payment provider, Adyen, collects the identity details and that Vinted doesn't store the documents you send. Each sale comes with a prepaid label or a QR code, depending on the carrier. Vinted says to ship with the provider the buyer chose, because tracking won't update otherwise.
Vinted requirements
- Where you can work
Live in the U.S. (continental, AK, HI, PR)
The terms name these places as where users must reside.
- ID and documents
Name, birth date, address, partial SSN or ID
Needed to activate your Vinted Wallet before selling.
Bank statement may be requested at higher limits
Vinted's payment provider sets the sales thresholds.
- Also required
Personal use only, not professional selling
Vinted's terms limit accounts to personal benefit.
A second account can lead to a permanent ban.
How much Vinted sellers make
Vinted doesn't publish typical, average or median seller earnings for the U.S. Its launch announcement says sellers "keep every dollar they make" because there are no selling fees, which describes the fee and not what a seller earns. Vinted also publishes no time-per-sale figure, so your hourly return is yours to work out (see how to calculate your real hourly rate).
Can Vinted suspend your seller account?
Vinted's ban page separates temporary bans from permanent ones, and lists the reasons for each. Selling outside Vinted's payment system and selling for commercial purposes are both listed as reasons for a temporary ban. Vinted's terms add that it can block an account or take other corrective action for security or fraud concerns raised by its payment provider. If Adyen can't verify an ID document, Vinted says your wallet may be suspended. For general steps after a lockout, see how to appeal a gig app deactivation.
Is Vinted legit?
Vinted's U.S. terms name Vinted, Inc. as the operator. Vinted announced its U.S. expansion in New York in January 2026.

Taxes on Vinted income
Vinted's terms say it isn't responsible for tax liabilities or reporting obligations that apply to you. Vinted collects and remits sales tax in the states its help page lists, and says that tax doesn't change a seller's earnings. In a state where Vinted doesn't collect, a seller who passes that state's nexus threshold may have to collect and remit it themselves. Vinted doesn't publish how it issues Form 1099-K to U.S. sellers.
The IRS says an online marketplace must send a Form 1099-K when payments total over $20,000 in more than 200 transactions, though it may send one for lower amounts. The IRS also says you must report gig economy income even when no form is issued. See taxes on side income for how the rules work.
Vinted vs other resale marketplaces
Vinted is the one in this group with no selling fee, so compare shipping, payout timing and how each handles identity checks.
Vinted questions
Vinted says you should ship within 5 business days, and that an order is cancelled automatically if the item isn't sent by the deadline. You can ask the buyer for 3 or 5 more business days from the conversation screen, and the new deadline applies only once the buyer accepts.
Vinted says its buyer protection, support and refunds apply only to orders paid through its Buy now checkout. Its terms say a purchase made outside the site is at the buyer's own risk and isn't covered by any protections it offers.
Vinted says you can't use the same bank account to withdraw earnings from different Vinted accounts, and that withdrawals will fail if you do. Its terms also allow only one account per person.
