Is Poshmark worth it for resellers and closet sellers?
Poshmark says it charges no separate listing or monthly fees.
Poshmark makes sense if
You want cash within hours of a sale
You want to list without upfront costs
Choose another platform if
Most of your items sell for under $15
You ship items USPS may flag as hazmat
You can't risk a sudden suspension
You want to sell cell phones
How much Poshmark takes from your pay
Poshmark's fee depends on each item's sale price, so check where your usual items fall against the $15 line before you list. Poshmark says it generates a prepaid shipping label for you, as a printable file or QR code, and that the buyer covers flat-rate shipping unless you offer a shipping discount.

Shipping rules can add a cost. On Oct 5, 2026, Poshmark announced that from Oct 19 sellers are responsible for the full $50 USPS hazmat fee if a package is flagged, replacing the earlier $5 seller share.
How and when Poshmark pays you
You start a withdrawal in the app, and the method you choose sets how fast the money arrives. Poshmark doesn't publish a minimum payout. A direct deposit typically arrives within two to three business days of the withdrawal. Instant Transfer is the quickest option, and the block shows which methods carry a fee.

Poshmark requirements and how long approval takes
Every seller goes through Poshmark's identity verification, which asks for a Social Security number and a physical residential address. Poshmark's sell page invites you to sign up through its free app and mentions no waitlist or application. The one timing Poshmark states is 24 hours to process an edit to your details. Poshmark says a mismatch between your taxpayer details and your identity details can delay withdrawals, block shipping labels or put your account on hold.
Poshmark requirements
- ID and documents
Full name, DOB, address, phone, SSN
All sellers provide these details under Poshmark's identity verification program.
Poshmark may also ask for proof of address or other documents on request.
Tax details must match identity details
A mismatch can delay withdrawals, block shipping labels or put your account on hold.
Proof you own the payout account
Poshmark may ask for documents showing the withdrawal account belongs to you.
- Where you can work
Physical residence, no P.O. boxes
Shipping centers are also not accepted as your residential address.
- Also required
Business sellers submit business documents
Poshmark asks for legal name, address, type and proof such as an operating agreement or K-1.
A Poshmark blog list of unsupported items from 2022 (its links still point to the Canadian site) names nail polish, perfume, aerosols, health and wellness products, used underwear, replicas and electronics such as cell phones outside its Electronics market. Check the current policy before you list anything in those groups.
How much you can make on Poshmark
Poshmark doesn't publish typical, median or average seller earnings. The only figure it gives is a cumulative total.

Total seller earnings to date
That $8B is a platform-wide total with no date or method on Poshmark's page, so it says nothing about what one closet earns. Poshmark also publishes no time per sale, so your hourly return is yours to work out (see how to calculate your actual hourly earnings). Fees and any shipping discount come off every sale, and if you buy items to resell, sourcing is unpaid time (see thrift store flipping).
Can Poshmark deactivate your account?
Poshmark's terms let it suspend or end an account at its discretion, including for suspected fraud, abuse or illegal activity. The terms say it can do this without explanation or notice and can remove your items. They also prohibit creating multiple accounts to get around a restriction and posting counterfeit products, and a catch-all rule lets Poshmark act on conduct it judges questionable or harmful.
Money can be affected too. Poshmark may modify or suspend the service to hold funds while it investigates fraud, and a suspended user can't use Posh Credits. Poshmark says it is not a party to the sale contract between buyer and seller. The terms send most disputes with Poshmark to individual arbitration where the law allows, with no class actions or jury trials.
On a smaller scale, Poshmark shortened the duration of restrictions for sellers who exceed its cancellation rate limits, effective March 26, 2026.
