Is Clickworker worth it for microtask workers?

Clickworker pays per job with no hourly rate, and your balance sits in a hold before it can be paid out. It fits people who can take small jobs as they appear and wait for the money.

Clickworker makes sense if

How much Clickworker takes from your pay

Clickworker lists no platform fee on ACH transfers to eligible U.S. users. It says payment providers such as PayPal, banks or eWallets may add their own fees. It doesn't publish what companies pay on top of worker pay, or its own margin, so you can't see the gap between a customer's price and your task rate. Clickworker says pay per job depends on average completion time, difficulty, the qualification required and expenses, and that rates are re-evaluated.

How and when Clickworker pays you

Clickworker pays U.S. workers by ACH direct bank transfer, with other methods listed. It says not every method is open to every worker, and that it cannot pay you if none is available, so check that a method works for you before you register.

Tax forms

SSN and signed W-9 required

U.S. workers need both before Clickworker will pay. The W-9 must match your profile.

Completed jobs take 7 to 30 days to become payable (39 for UHRS jobs), and Clickworker pays weekly in a Wednesday-to-Friday bill run. The minimum is $10 for ACH and PayPal and $20 for Payoneer; smaller balances carry over, and an ACH payment can take three to five business days to arrive. Clickworker's payable-time page dates from May 2024. UHRS work waits longest because UHRS can still quality-check and reject it during the hold, and rejected work is deducted from your balance.

Clickworker requirements and how long approval takes

Clickworker doesn't publish a standard approval time. Sign-up is switched on by country, and U.S. availability shows only in the live registration form. If your country isn't offered, Clickworker advises trying again later. Registration asks for your country, native languages, gender, date of birth and username, then an email activation, with no ID upload at sign-up. Clickworker describes its community as aged 18 to 80, a description of its members rather than a stated rule.

Personal bank account for ACH

Business bank accounts cannot receive ACH payouts from Clickworker.

If automatic checks suspend a new account, Clickworker says manual document verification can take up to 14 days. UHRS is a separate website. You sign in through the Clickworker workplace with a Microsoft ID, and Clickworker says it has no influence on UHRS workload or projects (a 2022 help page). The UHRS assessment page is also from 2022, so the 80% pass mark may have changed. Other assessments have their own requirements, which is why two workers can see different tasks.

How much you can make on Clickworker

Clickworker says tasks pay from one euro to several tens of euros each. That's its own claim, per task, and stated in euros.

Figures Clickworker publishes

Other figures

A per-task range is not what a person earns in an hour or a month. Clickworker says hourly earnings vary with task pace and research time. No independent study measures what Clickworker workers typically earn. Clickworker's homepage claims more than 10 million workers in 136 countries, and its worker page cites "+1 million microtasks" as a cumulative figure. Neither shows how many tasks are open to you now, which matters if you see no jobs.

Can Clickworker deactivate your account?

Clickworker's help pages describe temporary suspensions and permanent closures. New accounts get automatic security checks and are temporarily suspended if data looks suspicious, for example duplicate accounts, and you are emailed. You then open a support ticket and may be asked for ID, residence, phone or tax documents. The help pages describe this support-ticket route, not a formal appeal with a deadline. If support doesn't resolve a case, its ombudsman page points to a German body, and it doesn't say whether U.S. workers can use it.

Rejection also affects pay. Jobs that fail quality checks are marked Rejected and deducted from your balance. A 2022 help page says a job returned for minor errors is re-credited after rework, but one still unacceptable is rejected entirely and the fee is permanently deducted. A Payment Stopped status is set by support and means you must contact support. Clickworker doesn't publish a payment guarantee.

Is Clickworker legit?

Clickworker's legal notice lists clickworker Germany GmbH and a U.S. entity, clickworker.com, Inc., in New York. It describes both as subsidiaries of LXT, which announced a definitive agreement to acquire clickworker in December 2024.

Scams that use Clickworker's name

Clickworker doesn't publish a list of what it will never ask for, so the FTC's general rules are the check to use. See also how to spot side-hustle scams.

Taxes on Clickworker income

Clickworker tells workers they are personally responsible for taxing their income. U.S. workers must have an SSN or EIN in their profile and a signed W-9 before they are paid. Clickworker says the W-9 must match your profile name, address and SSN or EIN, and mismatches cause rejection. Clickworker's help pages don't say which 1099 form it issues or at what dollar threshold, so keep your own record of payouts.

When you get paid is when each platform pays out. Bank transfers can add a few days, depending on your bank and payout method.
