Is Taskrabbit worth it for local task workers?

Taskrabbit charges Taskers a $25 one-time registration fee and says clients pay every other fee. It processes new registrations as client demand allows, city by city, so approval isn't guaranteed.

How much Taskrabbit takes from your pay

Taskrabbit says clients, not Taskers, pay every fee beyond registration. Clients pay a service fee and a Trust & Support fee on top of your rate, and Taskrabbit says the Trust & Support fee does not affect Tasker pay. Neither help page gives a percentage. Taskrabbit's blog (September 1, 2026) says the Trust & Support fee is usually 5–15% of total task price, while the help page describes it as a percentage of the hourly rate.

Taskrabbit's pricing blog (updated July 27, 2026) describes three earning structures: task-based, pre-set hourly and self-set hourly. Fixed per-task pay is used for partner and IKEA tasks, and pre-set hourly applies only to direct-hire jobs. On self-set hourly, Taskrabbit says you keep 100% of the rate you set and 100% of tips. Taskrabbit doesn't say whether the other two structures take anything from the Tasker. Taskrabbit also says expenses and tips pass to Taskers in full. The terms say Taskrabbit can change its fees at any time.

Registration happens in the Tasker app, not on the website. Taskrabbit has no set approval timeline. It processes registrations on a rolling basis tied to client demand, in effect a waitlist. A NerdWallet report says most Taskers start within four business days, a third-party figure that Taskrabbit does not publish. ID and background checks run through Persona and Checkr, and Taskrabbit's Terms of Service say checks may also occur during use and disclaim responsibility for their accuracy. Taskrabbit's locations page lists its U.S. cities by state.

Close to $50 an hour is what Taskrabbit's CEO says U.S. Taskers average, per a May 11, 2026 Benzinga report. It comes with no sample or method, and it is a rate for active work, not monthly income. It is not net of costs or unpaid time. The same interview cited one Tasker who earned over $200,000 in a first year, a single example from the company's side.

The snow removal numbers are client prices. Taskrabbit's cost guide (October 1, 2026) says snow removal averages $41 an hour, based on what it calls research and real Taskrabbit data, with no sample size given. The Minneapolis and New Haven pages show starting rates, not typical pay. Fees, taxes, expenses and unpaid time are not netted out of any of these. No independent study measures what Taskers earn, and Taskrabbit doesn't publish how much work there is by category or city.

For the work itself, see snow removal, house cleaning and handyman services.

Can Taskrabbit deactivate your account?

Yes. Taskrabbit's terms (updated July 25, 2026) let it suspend a Tasker pending investigation and deactivate or limit an account for confirmed or suspected breaches, such as abuse, fraud or interfering with the platform. Its Who Can Complete a Task policy names subcontracting violations as one route to suspension, and a Seattle-specific policy covers deactivation there.

You can appeal within 14 days of the notice through a support form, giving your grounds. Taskrabbit doesn't say how long a decision takes. On payment holds, Taskrabbit says shared accounts can cause payment delays or temporary payment suspension. Taskrabbit publishes no other hold or reserve policy for Taskers.

Is Taskrabbit legit?

Taskrabbit's terms (updated July 25, 2026) say it is not an employer and Taskers are not its employees. They also describe Taskers as independent contractors of Clients. That classification was the subject of a lawsuit, listed below with its outcome.

Taskrabbit company record

The Finholt settlement figure comes from the plaintiffs' lawyers. The 2025 consumer suit is an allegation, not a finding.

Scams that use Taskrabbit's name

Taskrabbit's warning page says what it will never ask for and names a fraudulent site.

Taxes on Taskrabbit income

Taskrabbit issues a Form 1099-K through Stripe only to Taskers with over $20,000 in task earnings and 200 or more transactions (2025 tax year). Taskrabbit's delivery page (November 2025) says a Stripe Express account is required and forms were downloadable by January 31, 2026.

Taskrabbit vs other local task and home services platforms

The table lines Taskrabbit up against Thumbtack, Angi Services for Pros, Nextdoor and Care.com, the other platforms in local services.

When you get paid is when each platform pays out. Bank transfers can add a few days, depending on your bank and payout method.
